Most of South Africa's landscape is made up of high plateaus. These lands are covered with rolling grasslands, called highveld, and tree-dotted plains called bushveld. To the east, south, and west of the plateau lands is a mountainous region called the Great Escarpment.

Cape Town, Pretoria and Bloemfontein are the capital cities of South Africa.

South Africa is comparatively high at an average elevation of 1034 meters above sea level. The highest mountain peak (Mafadi) is at 3,450 meters.

We will advise you to pack accordingly depending on the nature of your journey and the regions you are visiting.

The currency in South Africa is the Rand (ZAR).  You can withdraw money at ATMs in South Africa and over the counter at some banks. Credit cards are accepted in many shops, while in the countryside, only ZAR is accepted.
